ELEANOR DULHANLY
Eleanor Dulhanly was from St. Mary’s Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her parents migrated from Ireland, as many did, to come to the New World. They located in Halifax sea port and set up housekeeping.
Eleanor Dulhanty was thirteen years old in 1819, when she stitched this elaborate sampler with a floral swag over a large flower arrangement, flanked by two impressive urns filled with large flowers.
Nova Scotia samplers are very rare and were made in very few number compared to New England states. There are very few documented examples since few have survived. Even fewer examples as impressive as this sampler are known. This would be a great addition to any serious collector. Size 18” by 22 ½”.
